A new visual gauge was installed this summer, to replace the gauge that was washed out in last year's flood. Unfortunatley it reads one ft. short of what the USGS/dreamflows realtime gauge reads. So if you are up on the Salmon this winter/spring beware that if the visual gauge looks like 6 ft. The actual flow is closer to 7 ft.

Do you know if this discrepancy was reported to USGS? If not please let me know and I'll report it...

Update on the previous message. The visual gauge on salmon river road just up from somes bar reads about 1/2 foot lower than the dreamflows/usgs reading on the computer. This can make a significant difference when on the river. The run is still great.
