Hi Folks,

Summer has arrived in the Tuolumne basin, bringing high temperatures and increased snowmelt. Continued increased inflows to Hetchy require increased releases from the dam to control elevation and limit future flood peaks. We are at 1500 cfs right now (afternoon of June 10). We expect Hetch Hetchy Reservoir to fill this weekend, sometime between Saturday night and Monday morning. Once Hetchy fills, we expect spill of up to 1500 cfs, resulting in total reservoir releases of up to 3000 cfs. We will attempt to moderate the total releases to less than 2000 cfs, but will be constrained based on weather and inflow patterns.

Holm power draft is varying significantly this week due to a variable power market. Some days Holm generation will range from 0 to 900 cfs. Generally, generation this week will be higher in the early evening (5 PMish to 10 PMish), and lower most of the day. Again, this will vary through the week, and may change quickly depending on power sales, so a more precise prediction is not possible at this time.

We are currently releasing ~200 cfs from valves at Lake Eleanor to manage Lake storage, and reduce spill over the dam. While we are spilling at Eleanor, releases below the dam will depend directly on the inflows, which can vary significantly – projected inflows below are a coarse estimate.
