The big flood made several changes along the S Yuba as well as the CDEC gauge at Jones Bar. Most of the rapid changes are minor and are easy to see. On the E 2 P stretch, it seems that Easy Ugly has changed and the drop following the far right chute has a new large boulder on the left side of the channel which forms a steeper drop that can be run either left or right of the rock. You can easily boat scout the route from the eddy below the far right chute. Several rapids on the 49 stretch have changed, the most notable of which are Mr. Squiggly (Squirely?) and Eat the Meat. We've been running Mr. Squiggly on the right side and then coming back to the left which has been good. Eat the Meat has changed for the worse. The bottom hole is now a large centralized hole that is not as wide as it previously was and is a lot stickier. The traditional line of plugging the meat is no longer a good line as I was the 1st one to try it on Friday and got sucked back in and violently surfed for over a minute. We also had a swim out of the same hole yesterday (Saturday). To run the hole, you need to be driving hard right with some speed to punch through it. I'll try and post a pic next week of the new hole. I'll also post a pic of a blue and white perception supersonic? that is wedged in a large pot hole with a lot of wood on the left below Ski jump.... best seen looking upstream from the river right eddy above the drop below ski jump. The gauge has also seemed to have changed and is reading probably 0.1' - 0.2' lower than previously so you can expect an extra two hundred or so cfs above what the CDEC gauge is currently reporting. I am running Purdens today so will post any changes on that stretch also.

We did the Purdens stretch yesterday and I'm pleased to announce the one portage is now runnable. More water is now diverted through the far left sneak channel which had plenty of water to run it (though it has a stout hole at the exit)......... Purdens to 49 can now be done without any portages. Most of the other rapids are pretty much the same as always.
