A couple of weeks ago we headed to arroyo seco to hike down the canyon, and were instructed by a ranger at the park entrance the following: "The Ventana Wilderness and Arroyo Seco Gorge are closed until the spring due to the errosion issues due to the fires." She provided the following numbers to call before heading in there to assure it's open:

Kiosk: 831-674-5726
USFS King City: 831-385-5434

I called the kiosk today to double check on access and was advised that access is closed through June 2009, at that time the FS will meet and review.

So how are they enforcing the closure? Is the campground and both parking areas closed too. Seems pretty lame.
