from alpine county sheriff "Attention rafters! A large tree has fallen across the East Fork of the Carson River, almost directly across from the Carson River Resort. This tree is a hazard to any raft, kayak or other watercraft.

Please note that this would be above (upstream of) the Hangman's Bridge put in.

its all the way across. Portage required. We cleared a path river right, but it's tough with a raft.

Update 6/28/17
There is still a tree in the river directly in front of the "gravel bar" put in near the Carson River Resort. The Tree is currently parallel with the river flow and could be passed on either side WITH CAUTION.

If launching from the gravel bar the tree should not pose any problems at current cfs (~2500).

If floating down from upstream down to the hangman's bridge the tree can be passed on either side WITH CAUTION.

Please note that the river is currently above it's normal channel and runs thru brush at the gravel bar put-in.
